Beaches in the area

On the coastal road that connects Cagliari to Costa Rei, you will encounter beaches and coves in which to spend an unforgettable day. The route starts from the crescent of clear seas of the Mari Pintau beach, the name translated from Sardinian means " a sea painting", due to the emerald green colours, so bright, that the view appears to be a painting. The blue gently and gradually fades as it nears the shore and the rich emerald of the Mediterranean shrub surrounds the light coloured shingle beach, creating beautiful contrasts of color. Heading north, Punta Molentis is on the same stretch of coast. Overlooking the beach are the ruins of an ancient dolmen, while the profile of Serpentara dominates the horizon, a small island of granite rocks four kilometers from the coast, the shape of reminds one of a snake.

Between sand dunes and stretches of Mediterranean shrubs we can find the popular Timi Ama beach, a white sandy shore which is characterized by a shallow and transparent sea, next to a pine forest in which to shelter from the summer heat. Farther north, in the shadow of Torre di Giunco tower we find the beach of the same name, famous for the fine sand that is rose tinged right on the shoreline. For those wishing to go exploring the rocky bottoms, the ideal place is the Cava Usai beach, an inlet granite was once quarried. Last but not least the lovely Spiaggia del Riso beach, whose name comes from the little sea eroded white pebbles that appear to be grains of rice
