Cagliari

Among the pearls of the Mediterranean Sea, Cagliari is the southernmost port of  Sardinia. Built on seven hills as are Istanbul, Lisbon and Rome, Cagliari offers travelers the cultural experience contained within the walls of the old town and the beauty of the clear sea along the il Poetto beach often tinged pink by the feathers of the resident flamingos.

Overlooking the city of Cagliari is its oldest quarter: Castello, populated with artisan and handcraft workshops and contemporary art studios. Below we find the  multiethnic La Marina quarter  overlooking the harbor, Villanova and Stampace that host archaeological itineraries and priceless works of historical and archaeological value.
A few minutes from the city center is the Sella del Diavolo, a promontory whose profile is now one of the symbols of the city of Cagliari. According to legend, at the end of a battle between the angel Gabriel and Lucifer that the latter, put to flight, lost his saddle during the escape. Hence the name, which alludes to the characteristic shape of this natural element. The Devil's Saddle bourders the right side of the famous Il Poetto beach, full of restaurants and wooden kiosks. Snaking out from Cagliari depart are the main roads, leading to Pula and Chia in the south, Villasimius and Costa Rei to the north which can be reached by car in less than an hour.
